Spark Plug Wire Resistance

Does anyone know what the upper limit is for spark plug wires for a '95SL2? Two of mine read 16k ohms and that seems a bit high since new ones read aprox 500 ohms. I purchased a set at Advance Auto and after about 10,000 mi (6mo.) they seem to be shot. Since they are supposed to have a lifetime replacement so before I return them for replacement I'd like to have some ammo to support my case. BTW, new wires fixed the misfiring problem, so I know they are defective.

16K sounds more like the right range to me, 500 ohms seems strangely low for most plug wires..

The spec for the 97 SL2 wires (probably the same) is under 12k Ohms.

Looks like they are "on the edge" possibly had some breakdown of insulation causing the slight misfire. I'll take them back tomorrow and see what they say. I've already replaced them with another brand and they fixed the problem. Won't hurt to have a spare set.

Did you check the cap... that is a more likely spot to jump a spark and misfire.
