Battery update

I stopped by my local Toy dealer, asked about ; . jumping a bat . swopping out a bat . 'red' Toy antifreeze

-Jump-

In my case, I used a lo_rate charger , same 'effect' as a jumper battery.

. ign key to LOCK . charger switched off, or discon from 110vac . att grnd cble to bat grnd(neg)/blk . att pos cble to bat pos/red . turn chgr on for reqd time ( rtfm the chgr manual )

-Swop-

. ingn key to LOCK . discon the gnd(neg) cbl(blk) , discon the pos cbl(red) . remove rplace bat units . att pos bat cbl . att gnd(neg) bat cbl

Per the Toy dealership ... radio/clock settings will be lost, ECU running parameters =wont= be lost .

-Antifreeze-

Mixing Toy 'red' antifreeze with 'green' simply produces a muddy 'brown' coolant color ... no more, or less, effects. Toy antifreeze is simply colored 'red' [.]

No 'magic' in the red, nor the green.

I think what you tried to tell us was that you put in a new battery and jumpered it to save your radio settings and computer settings..

Maybe you did not ask the right questions about Toyota Coolant let me guess you asked the service advisor about the coolant? Probably the person less likely to have a clue. At my dealers these guys have no clue how to look up a TSB even... The Toyo Red is a long life coolant that will provide proper lubrication to your water pump and not break down like the cheap green crap. Read the info from the post below.

The Toy red antifreeze is a long-life coolant. When mixed with the green and the muddy brown color stuff appears you have lost the long-life ability of your cooling system. So, if you ever change to only red you still won't have a long-life system. For no more difference there is in the price between Toy red and a GOOD quality green it's a good investment and peace of mind to go with Toy. Just my .02 worth, davidj92

Don't mix the coolant. Google it. Toy Red is low silicate as called for in their service manual. Mix the wrong stuff in can cause gelling or formation of some pretty solid stuff.

Why gamble?

Well, it's -25°C (-13°F) here now, so I'm not about to change my coolant. The dealer only drains the fluid, no flush, so whatever was in the car now (I bought it used 2 years ago) will still be half there after a darin. If it's not Red, what do you think the dealer will do, add Red, or get some Green from the local autozone?

A Toyota dealer? They'll put Toyota coolant in it.

Without =specific= RO instruction, the dealer probably just adds Toy 'red.

You "could" specify a dealer total system flush, 'till =clear=, and use Toy 'red' as the re_fill.

DIY involves the proper dsposal of the old coolant, and the 'flush'.
