Are you sure it is the A/C? If you have been running it on reserculate alot, then it might be your breath! Really, it is common to get a oily film on the front window that can only come off with windex type cleaner. It is from your body oils, or so I have heard. ; )
I had this problem in my 84 Celica... Most people don't know it, but your A/C system oil to run as well as it does whatever substance it uses to cool (i.e. freon). What it turned out to be in my old Celica was a faulty gasket in the condenser unit. Cost about $50 to locate and fix.
The plastic will outgas leaving a film on your windows. Use Windex to get it off, but keep in mind, it will be back for at least a few months.

Glass Plus does a better job than Windex, but it's harder to find. If you can stand shopping at Wal Mart, they carry it sometimes, as do many well-stocked hardware stores. Negative: It stinks badly, so pick a bath towel that's headed for the laundry next, and cover the dash or cloth door panels with it as you spray.
why use should nasty language like, COVER YOUR EYES MILDRED, walmart. that is the MOST DISGUSTUNG place on earth.

I agree. Wal Mart truly is disgusting. But, there are some manufacturers who can't afford to coupon their ways into the hearts of buyers. So, Glass Plus doesn't do as well in regular supermarkets as Windex. You have to find alternative sources for it.
Thanks to all. I appreciate knowing that I'm not the only one who has experienced this.
