Another fight for the parts cars

Looks like I'm going to be fighting the city to keep the parts cars I have use to do restorations, and I was here first. The area I have my parts cars in has just been taken over by the city, and they are telling me I have to get rid of my parts cars. I' put the parts yard across the street from a business that has twice the junk cars setting there but someone is BITCHING about mine. I would hate to loss the few parts cars I have left and I'm hateing the idea of spending a few weekends of stripping them down and cutting them up to keep what I can. If nothing else I'll find Mario from the VW junkyard in Ohio and swap war stories.

That sucks. A friend of mine had a similar problem and ended up buying a couple of those rounded tent structures. They are very strong, not very expensive and are actually made locally in New Haven someplace. The complaints stopped. The larger ones fit quite a few cars (his problem was actually boats and cars).

Worst case give your address out to RAMVA and have folks come out a pick their parts (for a fee) and get SOMETHING out of it. Maybe use the proceeds to print up signs for the opposition (to current city folks) in the next election!

Codes and laws for business are easilly researched. Try operating a proper lawful business that obeys laws, and such things as "surprise" lawsuits and notices from the town and individuals very seldom happen. Yes, Mario, most people consider a half dozen rusty stripped cars an eyesore. That is why the law in your area specifically prohibits it. But then you should remember from the last three times you've moved and had notices because of the same shit. Really the laws are in place BECAUSE of people like you. It *should* be simple common sense that most people do NOT want to look at such things. Unfortunately, there is nothing common about sense.

My cars are on commercial property and have been for a few years now the problem isn't so much the city because they just anexed this area, but one guys complaints who now I find has just as many or more cars that are just sitting on his propertie in plain site , where mine are hidden by tress most of the year. Good news is my wife to be has it all worked out and the cars are staying.

There was no codes covering the property when I placed the cars there a few years ago ,since then the city of Burlington has annexed the area and the new city zone is just 50 yard past the commercial property I rented to store the cars. Yes it has been very hard finding land to store parts cars needed to do quality restorations and it seems alot of the "parts cars" are being restored. The wife to be has filed to rezone the property which gives us 90 days to work it out. The business across the street has twice the cars and more and I'm sure the owner has to be part of the "good ole boys club" here and will help with the fight.

We have a dirt track racing place about 2.5 miles from our house. It had been here for years. Well, as more and more houses were built in my neighborhood, the development crept closer and closer... folks started to complain about the noise. Well, I guess since it had moved out here years ago because Dallas had encroached upon it, the local polititions either felt sorry for the owners or were not quite big enough jerks to force them to move yet again.... but guess what... a new state highway is slated to swing down within a few miles of here and guess what the most acceptible paths seem to have in common? Yep... in some way taking out that track.

The Devils Bowl Speedway folks shoulda bought more real estate huh? Instead of pocketing all the bucks, they shoulda bought and developed the area around the track to attract industry or something. Maybe just made a really clean mega national track out of it........But who knows, They'll have a time finding a place that won't complain nowadays anyway.

I hope one day to move to a very quiet , out of the way place. Don't want no race track in my backyard........ya know?
