A Ukranian guy developed a motor in 1986 that would run on compressed air instead of gasoline. The reason that this idea has been rejected is because it would have negative effects on companies who are already involved in the traditional comubustion engine as well as the oil companies. Not saying such an engine doesn't exist, if I could read russian I'd look at the fellow's website.. but that I wouldn't trust anything read on pravda.ru. ;)
