Lack of fuel pressure, if I am not mistaking it needs around 60 psi to run. It sounds like you have low, or no fuel pressure. Try a shot of starter fluid, or equivalent down the throttle and see if it wants to start. If not then you need to check and see if it has spark.

Certainly

Thanks for responding. I did give a squirt of starter fluid and another backfire out of the throttle body. It acts as if the timing is off.

Pardon my ignorance of GM's but i didnt see other replies yet. Does your vehicle have a timing belt that may have slipped due to wear or a cam or crank sensor possibly malfunctioning.

When you say it sounds as if the timing is off... is that because it doesn't crank normally or just because it backfired? Hopefully someone can lead you down the right path?

good luck!
