ANy tips on changing this out. How do you get the nut off of the bottom of the steering gear?

A big breaker bar or an impact wrench. You'll also probably need a pinion arm puller. They can be rented or borrowed at some auto parts stores.

use a box end wrench that fits the nut or an impact wrench with the steering box pulled. do NOT under any circumstances us a pickle fork w/ or w/o an air hammer to remove the pitman arm. you *WILL* ruin your steering box and have to do the job all over again. go rent or buy the appropriate puller and remove the steering box so you can get at it.
