What transmission Does A 1991 K2500 7.4L use is it the 700r4? Will a 700R4 off of a 1989 K1500 5.7L work?
an 8600# '91 K2500 should have a 4L80E (HD 4speed auto)... a 7200 lbs K2500 should have a 700r4/4L60 (LD 4 speed auto)... I'm not sure if the TH400/3L80 (HD 3 sp auto)was available after the '90MY. the easiest way to tell is to look up the RPO codes, or stick your head under the the truck and look at the trans pan. if it's a squarish rectangle with one corner cut off, it's a 700r4/4L60.. if its a long skinny rectangle it's the 4L80E.. if it kinda look like the state of Texas, it's the TH400/4L60.
and yes, if it has the 700R4... the 89 will work.. if it's got the
4L80E it can be made to work... but it'll take some $$ and time.HTH, Bret

Doh! that should be TH400/3L80
you need to lay off the shroom juice a bit there marshy.... a '91 7.4L is and always will be a 454ci gas engine
