I think my mechanic has installed the wrong timing cover on my 1990 Chevy C1500 5.7 CI, he has installed a Edelbrock Aluminum Timing Cover. From what I can see Edelbrocks website says that there aluminium cover only fits 1986 and earlier. So my question is what is the difference in these years, I am guessing seal because I have a major oil leak on a new engine coming out of the timing cover area.

Hope no other parts guys sells you the Edelbrock Aluminum Timing cover #4240, as it says it will only fit 1986 and down. This is what Edelbrock e-mailed me.
The reason is the timing tab will be located wrong and the oil pan seal is the wrong size.
Would not have been a big deal except this motor was shipped from Long Beach to Cabo San Lucas.Real hard to take back to the parts guy.
Good Luck, Thanks to guys that came up with suggestions
