What's the story with the '05 A6 Avant? It's not mentioned on the Audi USA web page. The Allroad is, but they don't appeal to me at all. Is it just later than the other models? Or does Audi think that the Allroad is the only wagon they need?

According to VWVortex, it should show up here next spring.

It's not yet available even in europe. They present it e.g. in Austria in January.
