M50 timing chain guide

In Sept., 94, the M50 engine gets an all plastic timing chain guide. Before that, the chain guide is aluminum with a plastic insert.

My 95 525i is built in May, 94. It came with an aluminum chain guide. When I took it apart and put it on the stand, I meant to replace the guide and I destroyed the plastic insert on the aluminum guide. So I am left with no choice but to replace it.

The all plastic guide I bought came in the mail today. My question is with the head still attached to the block, can I insert the tip of the plastic chain guide into the hole in the head and snap it onto the guide pin below on the block? Is the plastic guide pliable enough? Of course I am going to have to saw the old aluminum guide off first.

This is how the plastic chain guide on my SAAB 9k's is installed, BTW.

Advice is appreciated.
