Rubber / nylon disc that goes between the driveshaft and gearbox / differential. It absorbs vibration.

yeah, when it goes, you will know it. Ride gets noticably rougher, almost like the back tires are unbalanced. BMW was nice enough to put this tech wonder into Land Rover Discoveries (when they owned it too...)
