98 eldorado vs. 97 sts

Jun 06, 2005 1 Replies

I?VE GOT A 98 ELDORADO AND AT 2000 RPM THE CAR IS GOING ALMOST 80 MPH AND MY SON-IN-LAW HAS A 97 STS AND AT 2000 RPM THE CAR GOING 64. CAN ANYONE OFFER A REASON FOR THE GEARING DIFFERENCE THAT GM ENGINEERS PUT INTO THESE CARS. THANKS

Your son's STS is either stuck in 2nd gear, the tachometer is in need of adjustment/repair or he has a Tecumseh lawn mower engine.
