Re: 93 deville two problems

Sounds like the symptoms may be related.

The theft control module is mounted in the trunk, on the back seat, and is the second module from the LEFT of the car. Aftermarket remotes are usually located near this module. Factory keyless remotes modules are on the far LEFT.

Pay special attention to all connections that connect to these modules. The theft control module also relays the remote lock/unlock function, and can be affected by the keyless module. Details follow:

Step one: check the plug-in connectors. Separate connectors (look for connector 'lock' buttons - release them!), mist a little spray lithium grease or similar into the FEMALE connector pins, plug in and out (watch the locks) several times. Ground (frame) connections also should be removed (screw, etc), cleaned, and misted with same. Investigate all ground connections in the trunk. Moisture can get into the trunk from a number of sources.

Try cleaning all connections FIRST when you suspect electrical problems!

Next likely is a partially unplugged or corroded relay near the seat bottom left. This relay block controls several functions. The relay ccontacts (pins) and plug-in (socket) connections should be checked for corrosion in the same manner.

If you see the 'Security' light flash, for other than a few seconds when the ignition is on, this is another hint.

Next step would be to get a shop manual (Vol 2 - Chassis) , and troubleshoot the circuitry.
