95 Chev. S-10 thermostat....where?

Nov 20, 2004 2 Replies

I have a 95 Chev. S-10 truck, from time to time I have to add coolant. Maybe the thermostat is sticking? It doesn't leak. But the coolant gets low and I have to add. Where is the thermostat located? Any information would be appreciater. Thank you, David McGraw Arlington, TX

95 Chev. S-10

Find the Upper Radiator Hose and follow it to the front top of the Engine. The Thermostat will be there. You either have a overheating problem which is causing the Coolant to be forced into the Overflow tank where is fills out and overflows out of the tank, and then the engine cools down and the fluid gets sucked back into the Radiator, but not all since some was lost. Or you have a Leak someplace. Either Internal or External. The coolant is going someplace.

Dave, Is the motor a 2.2 Liter 4 cylinder? If so there were head gasket problems with those on the rear cylinder-would leak down on the bellhousing and such. Take care. Respectfully submitted,
