95 Silverado with a dash board voltmeter gauge that seems to work backwards. Shows appx. 14v on start-up and goes down scale the longer it runs. Been this way since I got the truck 5 years ago. It has never failed to start and the battery seems to be fully charged all the time. Changing the alt. with a known good unit showed no change. New battery a year ago and checked for loose connections at battery. All looked good. Anyone else experienced this?

the charging system compensates for temperature. as temp rises the battery does not need as much charge, so the alt reduces output. as long as everything functions, why the worry?
Also, the voltmeters on these trucks are TERRIBLY inaccurrate. Measure voltage at the battery, if everything is looks ok, then it's just the gauge's inherent inaccurracy.
