disc brakes all around

I have a 2003 chevy crew duramax/ ali Silverado 4x4. Been really happy with the truck. Just put 4 new skins on and the break pads have about

1/4 of meat left on them. The truck has 68,000 on it and the brakes are starting to feel a little weak. Any input on doing the brakes on one of these beasts?

What about the anti-lock feature? I've heard that you can screw up the sensors or the master cylinder if you just slap a C clamp on the caliper and squeeze the puck back in like every other non-anti-lock disc brake job I've ever done.

That is what's stopping me from touching up my rotors before winter. I have an '03 GMC 2500HD 4x4.

I've heard people say this is possible and others say iy won't hurt a thing. I put a wrench on the bleeders and open it to where the fluid just starts to seep out then press the piston back in and the partially open bleeder will become the path of least resistance and the fluid will squirt out there.

Tony, you do not want to use the C clamp to force the nasty old burnt fluid back thru the lines towards the ABS pump, what you want to do is, before you do anything, make sure that the bleeder screws on the calipers will all open.......if that is the case, then the rest is easy. Remove wheel Remove caliper Crack bleeder screw just a bit and compress piston back into caliper slowly, so that the nasty brown fluid exits the caliper instead of flowing back upstream towards the ABS When piston is fully compressed, close the bleeder. When done correctly, you will not introduce any air into the brake line. Replace pads Reinstall caliper Repeat at all other wheels. Pump brake pedal once, then top off master cylinder with clean, fressh fluid Continue to pump/refill till fluid is topped off

Took me longer to describe it than it will take to do it
