My 1979 surburban 1500 (4x4) has developed a tendency to suddenly pull to the left ,then the right over and over again. The mechanic who replaced the pitman arm and tie rod ends about 6 months ago says some older 4x4s have a tendency when the Locking hub gear rings are worn to slip in and out of 4 wheel drive causing this problem.
