Help, CKP/CMP Correlation code P1345

My local mechanic repaired my intake manifold gaskets (leaking coolant) and did a nice job 'cept for one problem...the Service Engine light is on and is getting the "P1345" manufacturer code. Anybody know what happened to cause this CKP/CMP Correlation code?

GMC '97 Sierra 2x 5.7

The cam sensor is in the distributor, it has to be in synch with the crank sensor. Apparently, your mechanic re-installed the distributor a tooth or two off on reassembly. Take it back and have him correct his mistake. His information system should have the correct procedure for a static distributor install. He'll need to recheck the cam synch with his scan tool (no other way to verify if it is correct).

Bob, Since my truck is running very well I don't believe that there is a timing problem. A year back I bought a new Distibuter and dropped it right in(broken tabs on the original plastic forced the replacement), never had the light come on, never had a problem. Do you have any knowledge of the cam position sensor and or any other causes for the CKP/CMP Correlation problem? All help is greatly appreciated. Bob Truck

If he had a "shop" you can bet that the roof was made of leaves and the outside walls were made of bark...

Believe it or not but turning the distributor on your truck does not change the ignition timing. Your cam and crank sensors aren't in sync with each other, the computer sees that and sets a code. You need to find someone with a scan tool who can set the CMP offset to 0 and clear the code. Note that the offset is changed by turning the distributor, the scan tool is just used to measure it.. Back to normal again finaly, had a drunk illegal imigrant (mexican) crash through my building about a month ago. Just got things back together again last Thursday. Of coarse the culprit only served a couple of nights in jail before they released him..... never to be seen again. They issued a warrant but he's probably got a different fake ID and a new location by now. Bob

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, last year it was flooding, this year the drunk.

Hope your insurance covered it without too much of a premium increase.

Yea they've been really good considering how much I've cost them over the last 5 months. But then I've been paying ins. premiums for the last 30 years or so without any major claims. I'm hoping the place is disaster free for another 15 or 20 years... lol. Bob
