It's a lemon!

We just won in Lemon Law court for our 2003 S-10 P/U. Water in the gas caused the fuel filter to fail and allowed particles to pass into the injectors. Fuel filters are supposed to stop this from happening but it seems GM fuel filters aren't up to the job. Keep your gas receipts, people! I'm off to buy a Toyota which I should have bought in the first place! Yay for rice burners!!!!!!!!!

Ummmmm....something sounds fishy here. Why don't I believe this story. What is a Lemon Law court? Is that anything like a kangaroo court? Typically the way the lemon law works, at least in my state, is that the vehicle has to have the SAME problem occur 3 or more times within one year or 12,000 miles of purchasing it new in order for the Attorney General to even consider the case. And then you have to go through this whole process of mediation with GM, the dealer, and the state. It's a real pain in the ass to say the least. I don't believe any circuit or district state court can hear a lemon law case. It is usually decided through some kind of administrative process/procedure involving the Attorney General's office. If the vehicle had 3 seperatet things go wrong with it within the first year of purchase and the dealer made a good faith effort to fix every problem, then you don't have a lemon as far as the state is concerned....just a bit unlucky.

Water in the gas tank? There will always be a certian amount of water in any gas tank regardless of who makes the vehicle due to condensation and evaporation in the tank. Why do you think they make gas line anti-freeze? If all fuel filters failed because they were exposed a little bit of water then 90 % of vehicles on the road would grind to a halt.

Hi!

Well, great for you, but you should have replaced it with another Chevy or a Ford (no flames!). Worst case, a Chrysler.

In any case, you probably paid too much.

Seriously, I have nothing against foreign made cars and I know it is impossible to buy a "truly" American made car these days...but I have something against sending all my money out of this country and reducing our workforce just that much more...so I'll buy as American as I can.

Anyway, enjoy your Toyota. I'm disappointed you didn't go for an American brand, but hey, it's your choice. Also kinda silly to post here in A.T.C. about it. Hope you enjoy it.

William, you disappoint me. Just like the Kia, most Toyotas are built, or assembled, or have major components manufactured and installed here.

******************* I just sold a 92 S10 with a 4.3 , with 130,00 miles, still ran like new, and never any problems, except normal wear.

I also just got a 2001 S10 with a 4.3 and 31,000 miles, and it runs like a champ!

I'd actually say it was more like the last 7-10 years...really new.

But our money DOES go back to the US. It pays the US workers who assemble, cast, press, Etc, Etc. these parts, pieces and vehicles. American companies that are contracted by Toyota, Kia, and Honda all get paid for performing work for these companies.

Hell, here in the Bay Area in California, we even have a plant that services GM and Toyota's joint ventures. It's called NUMI(New United Motors Inc). THey assemble ricer engines and are assembling the whole Matrix/Pontiac vehicle.

So don't tell me the proceeds aren't making it back into the US. Lots of people in the US profit off of the asian car makers.

The best thing we Americans could do to ensure more of our money stays here is to stop buying cars and trucks that get 9MPG. Ironically, whatever Japan makes as profit on the sale of a truck, OPEC will make 100 times as much on the sale of gasoline. And many OPEC members are state sponsors of terrorism who are trying to destroy our country.

I do recall

Foreigners can't put the big three out of business, but they can certainly do it to themselves. It's only a matter of time before American car manufacturers must break away from the unions and eliminate redundant product lines.

I'll let this one roll off my back and I'll consider that you didn't understand that my comment was in response to the original post in which he claimed that a bad fuel filter led to the demise and the buyback of his truck-not your response to said troll post.
