looking for opinions v6 4.3 any power for everyday uses? or dish out for a 5.3 with no options?

I'd go for the 5.3 v8. After it gets a little age on it you'll be glad you did. I had a 92 chevy regular cab 2wd with a 4.3 manual trans. and it didn't have enough power to run the air conditioner and drive through the city at the same time.
Go drive both. The 4.3 is a great motor, but underpowered for the full size extended cab.
