plugs/wires for 99 Sub w/5.7

Bought a 99 Sub K1500 3 months ago. Truck has 84K miles on her. Wires are definitely factory originals, and plugs might be original. I've already had ALL fluids changed over to Mobil 1 synthetics (oil filter is from K&N). Question is what are the right plugs to put in? Local car parts store suggests only Delco Platinum's @ $7+ ea. Bosch wires something like $65 (lifetime warranty). I'm trying to get this truck to run 150K+ miles.



I don't want to put a 99 cent plug in, but is there another good option to the Delco platinum. Or am I being penny wise and dollar foolish? The answers will probably be yes cause I spent so much on synthetics.

You're being Penny wise and foolish. Delco plats are the best plug for that truck. Delco Rapidfires are great as well ($3.99/each), but they are not platinum and won't last more than 25k or so, whereas the plats are good to at least 60k.

I have 120K on my original plugs in a 96 Silverado 5.0. It still runs well and idles very smooth. Stick with the good plugs you get what you pay for. Always buy the best you'll never be sorry. Mike

Change them and then she'll REALLY run nice. 120K is WAY too long for any plug.

I know you are right Doc. Hell, I've had the new plugs in my tool box for 6 months now. Just lazy I guess. If it aint broke I forget to fix it :) Mike
