Pulling a dash on an 86 1/2 ton

I was at the scrap yard yesterday and saw a truck with a perfect dash, mine, of course is all cracked. I arranged to purchase it from the guy, but now I have to go back to pull it. Is there anything special I should pay attention to while doing this?

Why? he wants the dash pad, there's no wiring in the dash pad.

Is this one of those "you pull it" places? If not why wont he pull it? Answer: he knows how easy it is for them to crack if they are flexed and I'd say he'll want it paid for before you start pulling. Not to say if the price is right not to go for it.

It's not a wrecking yard, it's a metal dump. The guy doesn't do anything except feed it all into the crusher. I'll be careful not to flex it, thanks.

Nothing special, remove the gauge bezel, the gauges (top of cluster is screwed to pad) screws above glove box, one screw on side next to passenger door and pull it towards you. The back side is held in with clips don't push up just pull it towards the back of the cab. Will take 10 min... Be aware there are plastic tube/hoses attached to the ac vents but they will come out with the pad.

I need to replace the one in my suburban also but not willing to spend $199 right now for a new one. Does look like hell, hate seeing the cracks.

good luck, mark
