Re: 2003 Silverado Radio turns off after 10 minutes

that feature is called Retained Accessory Power, or RAP. This is not a function of the radio.

Hi!

"Baboo" is almost correct. RAP holds power for 20 minutes, not 10. The radio would also quit playing the moment a door was opened.

It may be battery rundown protection. What position do you have the key in when you are playing the radio like this? (If the key isn't in, then, yeah, it's retained accessory power...)

By putting the key in the AUX position, you should be able to play the radio until the cows come home or the battery dies.

It could also be faintly possible (though for such a new truck this would be pretty unlikely) that the battery is inadequately charged or defective and after a while the radio shuts down because the voltage level has dropped considerably.
