I am trying to install new tail gate ropes. This is on a 1998 Chevy S-10. The new ropes came with the latches. My problem is I cannot find any access to the release of the latches to hock up with the new latches.
I must be overlooking something.

Isnt there a little spring clip gizmo on the back side of the cable end?
there is no release for the round end right? You have to cut those rivets out and put new ones on from the dealer 57 cents per, a hammer and a flat surface
That is correct, however what the dealer sold me was the ropes and the latches. I did not make that clear in my first post. The problem I am having is figuring out how to attach the latches to the latch release? I cannot find any access panels on the tailgate.
I got it figured out myself. You have to release the latch linkage at the release handle first. Then hook up the ropes and latches. Lastly hook the linkage backup to the release handle. Just that simple once you figure out the secret.
