I have a 79 chevy C-20. Im going to put a 383 stroker in it and I need a transmission that can take the power the engine is going to put out. Does anyone have any suggestions??

I'm building an '87 Chevy R-10 (87 version of a C-10). Mines got a 505 stroker and I'm using a turbo 400. With a 383 you could use a well built turbo 350. The 350 uses less power and has a slightly lower 1st gear so it would run better with it. The 400 is fairly bulletproof and would likely give you less trouble.

I have a TH350 in it right now. I think I need a tranny with O/D because my truck maxes out at about 70mph.
Unless it's got 6.14 gears I'd say there is something wrong with it.

It already should have a TH400 in it. If it does, that about as good as they get.
