1995 Grand Cherokee electronics went crazy

I ditched the Concorde for a 95 Grand Cherokee, I needed the SUV 4x4 anyway.

Well I pressed the rear reading light on the overhead console and the whole damn car went nuts! The Vehicle information center shut off, all the lights turned on, the radio completely shut off and a rapid clicking noise emitted from the glove compartment and the AC shut off. The car died in the driveway after I left it for a few days so something is draining the battery but I don't know what.

Somehow the light switch must have shorted something because my haynes eludes that they are all connected somehow but doesn't show how to remove the upper console or fix it!

HELP BILL!

I don't know Cherokees. The overhead consoles I am familiar with come out by removing a single screw in the console just behind the top of the windshield and dropping it down. I'm not a fan of aftermarket manuals. I recommend a Factory Shop Manual. An alldata.com subscription are good for the factory schematics specific to your vehicle, but the procedural information, although what's there is out of the FSM, is very spotty almost to the point of being worthless. IOW - it may or may not tell you how to remove the console. Maybe what I said about that screw will help (if that console is like the 2nd gen. LH ones I am familiar with).
