`93 Eagle Summit -1.5 liter engine.--No Throttle

I have a `93 Eagle Summit. It will start and idle just fine. However when you step on the accelerator the engine attempts to die -smother out. Upon releasing the accelerator it goes right back to a perfect idle. I assumed the fuel filter was clogged, changed it out. I next dropped the fuel tank ran fuel pump to a gauge,+50 p.s.i. I put tank back up and tried closing off regulator return line

-gradually. Still no change. Next I removed air filter. No help. I recently changed out plugs, wires, and rotor. I have also ohm-ed the TPS sensor and it seems fine. Last item on diag. info is I don`t have a check engine light on while running. Any comments, ideas, or info greatly appreciated.

\Most likely scenario is a plugged exhaust - bad cat or whatever. Drop the header pipe from the manifold and give it a quick try. On that

1.5, is the cat bolted right to the manifold? If so, drop the pipe first to eliminate the muffler and pipes. If it still acts up, loosen the bolts on the cat and drop it. IT WILL be LOUD!!!!!

I don't know if your '93 1.5l has a MAP sensor or an air flow meter. If it has an AF meter (inline with the airfilter housing and air snorkel tube, 6 wire connector) then it may be bad; it may not be reporting the correct air volume into the engine. A faulty MAP sensor (if equipped) is unlikely, unless it's internal transducer is frozen or there is a partial restriction in it's vacuum line.

Finally, cam timing could be off one or two teeth. Many engines with a decent ISC motor will seem to idle decently with this condition but have very little power off idle.
