Has anyone actuall done any diagnosis? Have you cycled the ignition key three times to read the trouble codes? Has anyone checked for fuel pressure, cam and crank timing signals, and all the other SIMPLE BASICS, or has someone blindly thrown parts at it hoping that on random chance one of them will be the right one?

How do you cycle the ignition key 3 times to read trouble codes? I was told he put it on the machine and it was some kind of heat switch. I paid for it went to leave and it wouldn't crank. (same thing I took it in for) Put it BACK on the machine said it was the ECM whcih is the damn mother ship computer module. Went to pick it up again it wouldn't crank. It turns over like it's going to crank and it absolutly will not crank. It doesn't turn over and over, like when the battary is dead and you know it turns over, it is one continuous sound like it's cranking but as soon as you let go of the key, nothing. I HATE this car. I don't know if all that other stuff has been checked. I would assume it has. You would think so anyway. Have I been screwed or is it the car like the guy keeps telling me??

Well for one, Is it Cranking or NOT Cranking. If it is turning over it is CRANKING! So what is it? Cranking or not cranking? You state both with your description! Tell the mechanic he's full of s*it and refund your money. Then get it towed to another shop. Ask other people that live near you for a reputible shop!

Already posted, but since the idiot mechanic chanbed the ECM, it won't have any trouble codes unless its not getting a cam signal during cranking.

Odds of the ECM failing are just about zero. It is VERY rare for an ECM to fail.

What does this nonsense mean? Does it crank or not? If the starter turns the engine, then it cranks. If it won't start, thats one thing, but cranking is different. Which is it? How can it "turn over but not crank?" That makes no sense.

Until people here can get some half-of-a-clue about what the car's really DOING, how can we say? But it sure sounds like the alleged "mechanic" is completely clueless. I'd say you've been screwed.

If there is no codes the crank position sensor needs to be checked with an oscilloscope. Or as more commonly is done by the corn pone gang, it needs to be replaced temporairly by a known good one.

If your mechanic does not have a scope one you need to find a better mechanic.

Obviously, this forum only allows you to send us ASCII explanations of the problem, and all we know is you went to pick up a car that wouldn't start.Nobody is going to be able to help you from that kind of description.

It sounds like, though, your car is not the problem. You have a people problem. The people who are taking your money think you have more money. For pete's sake, what kind of garage would tell you to come and get a car that wouldn't start? A lousy one, that's what. Cars are simple, and very reliable almost all the time.
