brake light

we've noticed our brake light on our 1998 Grand Voyager coming on more and more while we're driving. As far as I can tell the brake fluid level is ok, the parking brake is not on. But the light comes on. Then after a while it'll go off. Then back on. You get the idea.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks!

Hi...

I happen to have a neighbor who has one, did the same thing, including but not limited to staying on all night in his driveway.

Cure turned out to be easy; the shaft on the switch bottom of the brake pedal had scored badly, and stuck easily.

Not inexpensive part, but turned out to be a total waste of time and effort trying to clean it up, smooth it, and anything related... change it :)

Take care.

We assume that you are talking about the brake warning light on the dashboard and not the brake light?

Yes, the Brake Warning light, not the brake lights on the rear of the vehicle.

Thanks!

Gide> We assume that you are talking about the brake warning light

He means the warning light, not the brake lights, per se.

you DUMB ASS- the emergency brake pedal or lever ALSO has a switch on it, that turns on the brake warning light in the dash, when the emergency brake is on

he doesn't mean the switch on the main foot brake that is used while driving

so it can be the switch on the emergency brake pedal, too

you're a real mechanic, you are...when God was giving out brains, you thought He said "trains", and you answered "give me a slow one"...

As far as you can tell the fluid is full? it either is or isn't? does the lite come on at turns?
