European Code Parts in USA

I contacted Chrysler USA, International Division, and asked for a source of European Code lights (if one wanted to take a vehicle to Europe.

They quickly responded "drop dead". (OK, my words). They said to export the vehicle first and then contact the local Chrysler distributor for information.

But an accurate representation of what they would've told you. By rights, they're right. It's Federally illegal for them to sell parts that don't comply with all applicable US safety standards but which fit vehicles certified as complying with the US standards. This doesn't stop GM from selling you whatever you want at any parts counter (E-code lights, Mid-East exhaust systems, whatever). But, Chrysler says "NO" in the US.

What are you trying to find?

Hi Richard,

That sounds reasonable ... depending on the character of Your european tour You might be required to have the headlight leveling installed. This is mandatory for cars sold in europe ... I think military people serving overseas are exempt from that.
