Steering problem with 2000 Chrysler Voyager

I have a used (72K miles) 2000 Chrysler Voyager (3.0 L engine). The van had been standing in the airport parking lot for the last three days. Last night when I flew back in and tried to drive the car, the steering wheel locked on me (unable to turn the when more than a couple of degrees). It had rained yesterday and was freezing cold. There was thin sheet of ICE on my windshield. My battery light was also flashing, although I was able to turn the engine on. After about 10 mins (while I was trying to figure out the steering wheel issue), I heard a continuous clicking sound and soon after the battery also died on me. Any suggestion as to what the issue may be and the estimated repair cost.

Thanks for your feedback.

sounds like you got a broken fan belt.[ poly v belt ]that drives your alt. water pump power steering etc.

Thanks,

Any estimate for replacing the fan belt - material + labor. Do you think there may be an issue with the power steering fluid?

Chrysler has come out with a new belt kit that has a double sided belt (grooves on both sides) and a new idler pulley and belt tensioner to prevent this from happening. Contact your local dealer for the part number and price.
