78 Auto with 3.08 rear end?

Most 78 vette's have a 3.08 rear end? I was wanting a little more umph and thought changing out to a 3.55 would be a nice addition. Ideas? Experiences? 3.55 enough?

Car has a 383 cu in w/ 700r4 4 speed automatic.
