89 coolent fan question

Is it normal for the coolent fan to start running as soon as you start the car when its cold or hot ? Thanks Hank

My C4 has the option for a single coolant fan and one small a/c condenser fan.

If the a/c is off, the coolant (big) fan turns on at start then turns off if it's cool or at speed (IIRC about 35-45 mph). The ECM and fan relay control this.

Note: There's an option for dual coolant fans plus the a/c fan. That option might work differently.

my 88 has one big fan behind the radiator and a small fan in front.. the small fan comes on at 230 deg and runs untill the temp drops to about 200 deg.. the big fan behind the radiator only runs when the AC or defrost is on.. when i had a problem with my AC it was because the pressure switch in the AC line was bad and the big fan would not come on.. your switch may be stuck cosed making the fan run...
