1994 Intrepid wierd problem....dies...then starts again

1994 Dodge Intrepid, 3.3 (not flex) Cruising along and the engine dies and the cruise control light comes on. The accellerator pedal will be all the way to the floor. Cycle the key on and off a few times until the cruise light goes out and it will start again. No codes or lights. Replaced fuel pump and filter as suggested but no joy, Just out $150. Any clues would be appreciated. I'm stumped!!

TIA,

Eric

Either hook a scan tool up to it and monitor the cam and crank sensor to see if it is loosing the signal or take a pot shot at it and replace both of them.. If this vehicle has never had them replaced now is a good time to do it as preventive maintenance/or the fix
