Tower Automotive to cut 430 jobs by mid-July

A total of 430 jobs will be lost by mid-July when Tower Automotive discontinues production of Dodge Ram frames at its Milwaukee plant, the company said Friday.

The company announced last year that production of truck frames for the Ram will be moved to Mexico this summer.

In a notice Friday to the state Department of Workforce Development, Tower said most of the 430 employees will be laid off between June 29 and July 12.

Employees being cut include 413 union workers and 17 salaried employees, Tower said.

And you point being - Tower has been in the process of leaving Milwaukee for several years.

What is your point? Just because this is not a new development, it is either acceptable or appreciated?

My point is this is not a new problem, didn't happen over night and the employees have been aware of it for several years and if they have not been anticipating it that is their problem.

The world does not stand still.

Like I said, that doesn't mean it is appreciated by the hundreds, or more likely, thousands, of people adversely affected by the decision.

And besides, its still "news" to most people.
