Random troubles ;)

i'll make this simple, for my own sake as much as anyone else. ;) it's an '88 new yorker turbo, 220,000 km (~138,000 miles). it's getting 12L/100km (19 mpg) highway, and 6L/100km (39 mpg) city. read the tranny thing below, but this is pretty backwards.

-ODO reading 'FAIL' on a random basis. computer?

-stalling; have replaced map sensor, O2 sensor. this coupled with some pretty crappy mileage, and it seems to idle a little rough, with a 'huff-putt' out the tailpipe every few seconds. timing?

-is it normal for the 3-speed auto to hit 3rd at just over 60 km/h (37 mph)? this makes for horrid highway cruising speed at 85 km/h (52 mph) cause the damn thing is wound-out trying to make some speed. it was mentioned that i coule adjust throttle pressure on the tranny, but before i go looking through books.. perhaps someone here has the answer?

follow-up: i might swap out the logic box for the hell of it, and i'll multitester the TPS for kicks.
