San Felipe weather for any that may wonder

Damn man that is some pretty nice weather you are having. Is it like that all the time? It has been in the range from 102 - 109 here man!

well, the nearest one that I track is Yuma, Larry...

It's usually about 3 to 5 degrees warmer but with less humidity, so they feel about the same...

Like they say in Alabama, It's all relative.... After it gets over a certain temp. you go inside, whether you're in Phoenix, Fresno or Baja...

I actually follow your weather cuz the nearest decent news station on tv is in the Phoenix/Gilbert/Chandler area...

Usually in the summer months San Felipe is 90-100 with 90% humidity. The nice weather is April or October. Winter months are nice but the nights on the beach can be cold and windy.

We're about 7 miles north of town, Miles, so we're a few degrees cooler and not quite as humid as in town...

We were here for a week last August and it was in the 102 - 104 range in town and about 100 at El Dorado

OTOH, when we got back to Fresno, it was a record 114... lol

the tourist season here is October to May... good for my sales but bad cuz it's crowded with gringo touristas...

We stayed at an RV park several miles north of town. Might have been El Dorado. Really didn't care for it much. No beach front sites. Had to walk down to the beach and they had a bad sewage treatment issue that caused the park to stink pretty bad. Was told it had been like that for several years.

We did enjoy San Felipe itself. It reminded me of Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) from back in the 70's. Now its overgrown with huge resorts. When we used to go there it was a sleepy little fishing village with a few RV parks right on the beach and little else.

Man, Rocky Point has gone down hill hasn't it? It has been awhile since I have been there, last time I went though, it was not as nice as I remembered from the early 90s. I heard that they plan on developing it more.

I started going there in the early 70's. We always took our RV's and stayed east of town. The college kids always went west of town to Sandy Beach where tent camping on the beach was all that was there. That area is now almost completely filled with large resort complexes.

The RV parks east of town are all still there but condos etc. have filled in some areas.

In the early 70's my family had a permanent RV spot with an Airstream parked on a large concrete beachfront spot. That row of trailers gave way to condos in the early 80's.

It's still fun there but you have to know where to stay and keep away from the newer tourist areas.

When is the last time you had been down there? I had heard from some one at work that used to go all the time that they have really gotten strick on things like ATV riding and such.

It's been about 6 years. Even in the 80's they didn't allow ATV's on the beach in tourist, rv park, resort areas. In the 70's we could ride right in front of our trailer. Last time we were there we could ride on the beach but had to take a drive to the estuaries several miles east of town past Los Conchos well away from any people. Inland dunes were also ok to ride on.

Last time this guy was down there was about a year ro two ago (IIRC) and he was telling me that it has gotten real bad if you are trying to ride. Hard to get them around because of "traffic" and people. I beleive he had even mentioned that riding the dunes were difficult to ride because of the amount of people down there anymore.

It is not a suprise though that population booms and tourist attractions of sort, like resorts are taking way all the stuff that made certain areas popular and enjoyable. I guess you enjoy what you still have, right.

That might have been El Dorado RV park, but it was the "premier" rv park in N. Baja, so the sewer problem sounds like somewhere else..

It was a really nice park... unfortunately it's the foundation now for a bunch of condo's..

Hey miles, subject change for you real fast. Up in your neck of the woods, do you have a lot of critters around your place? I have noticed since moving up to Tucson, that there are more critters, spiders, around than was in S.V.

Any suggestions on treatments to keep them out of the house?

I can tell ya what we do, Larry... I'm also interested in Miles methods...

We buy "bug stop" at walmart in gallon jugs.. It's supposed to last 3 months, but every 2 or 3 weeks we spray the doorway, jams, patio/carport/deck/etc. with a good coat...

I've seen a lot of bugs and scorpions since Oct. but about 90% of them have been DEAD... stuff works pretty good..

For backup we bought a couple of these really evil looking spray cans for scorpions and other critters that you want to kill from a distance... called "TERRO" at home depot.... Has a long tube and will kill a scorpion at about 6 feet...

Any issues that you know of with using that stuff when you have pets? I don't to kill my puppy

Try ortho max home pest control. Use it full strength or get a ortho lawn sprayer and set it to 1 1/2 oz. Spray and let dry. Once it's dry dog shouldn't be a p[roblem. Wait you said puppy? How old? Real young like under

16 weeks keep it off for a couple of days or let it dry then water it and let it dry.

He is a year old. My concern is that I get another wolf spider in the house, I have already kill a couple of them. So far other than the occasional fly and the one hornet I had this weekend that is all I have had. But, the weather is getting hotter, between 104 and 109 all week, and you know they will be looking for some place cool

Old enough. Spray it full strength accross the door ways and around the foundation. Forms like a barrier and should kill bug that walks on it.

When we first moved into our new home there were lots of crickets. We bought several gheckos and let them loose around the house and in the attic. They take care of most of the crickets and spiders. After several years there are still a few gheckos around.

We have coyotes come into our neighborhood sometimes. Have to make sure pets are kept indoors at night.
