NEW CAR WARRANTY

A simple question I hope folks......

Is the warranty on a new Fiat car invalidated if you have it serviced and maintained at a non main Fiat dealership? Cheers

I don't know for sure but I don't think the warranty people would like it - you are putting the maintainence of the car whose good mechanical condition they underwrite into the hands of the 'unknown'. (Even if the 'unknown' is a good garage) If you had a problem you could find that they might try to wriggle out of paying up.

Stick to the main dealer, unless you have some confirmation of your warranty co's acceptance of independent servicing. Once you have finished the warranty, go for it!

There was an EU ruling on this:

Basically they won't be able to force you to use their network, obviously if the servicing or maintenace was deficient from their specifications they will have a get out clause. If the garage guarantees it to manufacturers spec.you could have legal redress against them, but this could be costly to enforce (for you) and if its some back street job probably impossible.

no is the answer. The fiat warranty states that the car must be serviced at a registered dealership (any dealer) and that the parts must be of the same standard as fiat genuine parts. This is in print. what you must do though is have the service carried out ON TIME, within 1 month and 1000 miles of the service date or they will invalidate the warranty. We were 2 months over and they cancelled it. They did allow us to revalidate the warranty for £60, bit of a con really. rob
