Bumper interchange

I have a '71 Trans Am H.O. It needs a rear bumper. There is one on eBay which came off a 73 Z28. Would anyone know if that is the same bumper the TA would use? I don't have a cross-referenced parts book. While I'm at it, does anyone know where I can get one of those?

Hollander Interchange manual---they show up on Ebay all the time. Same ones the junkyards use.

I'm sure the T/A and Camaro bumpers differ in those years.

My trusty Hollander book lists a reference only for 70 thru 73 Firebirds for your interchange. Could be any Firebird, though, not just a T/A.

Like Joe said, these books show up on Ebay all the time, well worth the price.

For a 2nd generation Firebird, something like a 46th edition (1970-1980, with some earlier models) would be best. Hope this helps.

The 71 Camaro bumper is similar but where it wraps around the quarters, it's a lot shorter that the Pontiac bumper. The 73 Camaro bumper is not only shorter but it seems to wrap upwards. Search the web for T/A and Camaro pictures and you can see the difference.

Thank you for the information. Kept me from bidding on the wrong thing. Now, I'm in search of that Hollander's Interchange book. (It's a good thing to belong to this group!)

The chrome bumpers are for '70-73 Firebirds only. Camaro bumpers are different.

Also, the bumper brackets(that mount the bumper to the body) are different for 70-72 and 73. 1973 pushed the bumper away from the body 1/2 inch for the bumper laws that year.
