Help Identifying Engine

Jul 04, 2006 3 Replies

Good afternoon,

I have a problem identifying an engine in my '73 Camaro. The VIN lists the engine as a 307, but the block has a casting number of 3970014. The front pad has the following codes: "13L1 T0104CMA"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, TJ

My books says 3970014 350ci 69-77 2 or 4 bolt mains. As for the #'s on the front pad, sorry I don't have and literature to decode those.

The info I have is:

3970014....350...70-76...2 or 4 bolt main

the T0104CMA would refer to: T for Tonawanda Engine Plant

01 for January 04 for the 4th C for Chevrolet passenger car MA for either 1972 307/130hp 2bbl turbo hydromatic trans from California or 1974 350/145hp 2 bbl turbo hydromatic trans.

Still checking on the 13L1
