engine identification 5.0 CKH suffix code ?!?!?!?

hi. i have a 1983 monte carlo i just bought. it has a v8 engine, that much i know. the rest is confusing. instead of having a casting number on the drivers side rear of the block, it says 5.0 LG, but it looks more like 5.8 LG, but i know chevy didn't make a 5.8 liter engine. the engine has the newer style heads on it, with the 4 bolt hole valve covers, that bolt down the center of the valve cover. has a factory aluminum

4bbl intake with 4bbl rochester carb. BUT, on the front pad of the engine, the suffix code is CKH, which i have only found to be a 307, or 350. so any help is greatly appreciated. i couldn't find any info on the suffix code being used on newer engines. i am lost. PLEASE HELP ME! thanks, jeremy

please email me at snipped-for-privacy@netzero.net ....i will probably forget to check this site, but i would love to hear any info on this problem. i have checked the nastyz28 site, mortec.com site, and some others. none of them help. anyone that has books with the info in it, or updated info, that would be great.

If the valve covers have centerbolts, it is 88 or newer, or at least the heads are. Can't really help you on the rest.
