Has anyone replace plugs 2 & 3 those on the passenger side closest to the fire wall on an explorer 4.0l sohc engine. My plug wrench and plug cap removal tool don't fit between the AC unit and the plug. Are there special tools or do I remove the AC unit to replace these 2 plugs?

Have to echo Big Shoe.... go in through the wheel wells for all plugs and you can do the job in about 30 minutes. A 3" extension, a 6" extension, and a swivel adapter, along with your socket and ratchet is about all you need.
