2002 XLT CD changer - disc stuck

Sorry if this is a repost - the original never showed up on my newsreader. ========== My '02 Explorer has the OEM dash-mount 6-disc CD changer. A year or so ago, we got a postcard from Ford saying "If you want to play homemade CDs, that's fine, but don't put paper labels on them. The edge of the label sometimes lifts, and jams the disc in the changer." I took note of this, but forget to tell my son, and sure enough, he got a paper-labelled CD stuck in there earlier this week.

What is the approved method for extracting this thing without hurting the changer? (I'm perfectly willing to sacrifice the CD!)

Bill

Bill, I had the same problem with the factory unit and Ford fixed it under warranty. I do know that they took the unit out completely and sent it to another shop and I got the unit back a few days later. Perhaps you can check with your Ford dealer and give you the name of the company that does it. Don't think I answered your question about doing this yourself but it's an option.
