93 Explorer EB - remote keyless entry question

Hello All: My son just picked up a 93 Explorer EB in very nice condition. It has lots of power options including Power Locks, but the car did not come with any remote entry key fobs. Did the 93 Ford Explorers have remote entry? Would they have been standard on an EB or an option? I can tell you that this Explorer does NOT have a drivers door keypad, but I don?t know if that was around in 93.

I am wondering if I have to install a third party entry system, or can I just buy the correct remotes on eBay and somehow program them in.

Any help/advise will be appreciated. Thanks Joe

The truck comes with electric locks, but NOT remote entry. The electric=20 lock button on the driver door, when pressed, will lock all doors and=20 then can be set up for unlocking from the driver door only.

If your Explorer does not have an outside keypad, it does not have=20 factory keyless entry. But I had a key fob type entry system for about=20 $130 installed at my local car stereo shop.

I had a 93 Eddie once, and it also had power door locks but no remote fob. I highly recommend having a remote starter installed...under $200 at Best Buy, etc., and you end up not only with two fobs that unlock the doors, but a great gizmo you can use to preheat/cool your truck on those extreme days.

I don't know about having to have an outside keypad. I had a '93 Sport and now have a '94 Limited both with keyfob remote entry but no outside keypad.
