'94 Explorer Idler Pulley

I noticed some draging noise and thought the bearing was going out on the alternator but after looking found the front assembly on the idler pulling almost off and it's rubbing the fan blade. There's a spring that's attached to the front of the assembly. Question is does all the houseing that the alternator is attached to have to be removed to replace this idler pully or can it be done without removing the alternator and all that stuff???? There's not that much room to work with.. Thanx for any help you mite have and I need it SOON!!!! Thanx again' Qbal
