Hi everyone. My '96 EB with 4.0 liter V6 and ControlTrac 4WD has 120K miles. I have never serviced the front wheel bearings because I was under the impression that they are sealed units, and not serviceable. However, a friend with a '99 Explorer recently had his front bearings repacked. I don't know if his rig has 4WD or not.
My question: Does my Explorer have sealed front wheel bearings, or are they serviceable other than by replacement? I have noticed increased road noise coming from the front end, which may be the tires (Goodyear Wranglers). My tires have about 30K miles on them.
