1998 Sable - CD Changer Mounting Location

Where would they install a CD changer if you have one from the factory? I'd always heard they put them in the trunk, but I can't find a location in the trunk that looks like it'd take one.

Help?

I put the one in my taurus on the drivers side hanging from the top deck, worked out well.

The console mounting is only for the 5-passenger sedan. On 6-passenger versions (column shift), it's still in the trunk. On wagons, I guess you add 2 passengers for the 3rd seat?

I don't really use my glove compartment for storage. I wonder how well that would work for mounting a CD changer. It would be convenient to change discs, and not just displayed for all to see. Load the discs, close the glove compartment and you're back to the standard factory appearance, which is what I want.

Some people do install aftermarket CD changers under the driver side or passenger side seat in a car, SUV or minivan. Even in pick up trucks, they would install it behind the bench seat or under a cab seat. Not all CD changers will fit in the glove compartment, but that's a great idea. I personally love my factory console CD changer in my '02 Taurus SEL. I hate in-dash single disc CD players because in most cases, they scratch CD's. I'm not sure how well an in-dash CD changer works.
