2001 Taurus fuel light

Jun 04, 2004 2 Replies

The fuel light on my wife's Taurus came on last week. The owner's manual suggest changing to a better grade of fuel. She has done that. The light went off for about 5 minutes the other day then came back on.

Anyone have any ideas what else might be the problem?

Don't you ever add Fuel injector cleaner each oil change?

If not, add a bottle to half a tank of gas for a higher concentration of it. Even a quarter of a tank is better and more effective.

See if this makes a difference.

The fuel light (like an illuminated gasoline pump) means you have about

1/8 tank of fuel left. It can go on (then off) if the car is parked on an incline.
