93 taurus problems, EGR ??? etc.

i got a 93 taurus, 3.0 engine, GL... i have the CEL on and went to auto zone and got the free check engine light test:

25 Knock sensor, was told that i dont have one, i checked the car and cannot find it???? 34 EVP voltage out of range.. i took the sensor off and brought it to auto and they tested it with pressure to the sensor and says it is good. 51 ECT sensor.. i checked it with engine cold and got a zero and open signal so i guess this is correct and with the probles on the sensor at hot engine i get 3.5 ohms at 20,000 ohms range.... is this correct or is it defective???? i also pulled the small vacuum hose off the EGR and let the engine idle which seemed ok for and idle and then pulled a vacuun on it and then the engine stumbled(i think it is suppose to do this???)... any ideas would be apprecitaed...the engine light comes and goes as it pleases.... thanks for a reply.. if this message is repeated please excuse as i had trouble with the newsgroup programs for the past two weeks..... and tried to send it several times....

Because there is no knock sensor.

Need to check the EGR valve and vacuum system. The sensor only tell the ECm what the EGR is doing. So if the EGR is too far open or closed the voltage will be out of range.

It does not mean the sensor is defective, only that the ECM saw the circuit as open. This could be the result of a corroded connector, or that the sensor is bad. In other words you need to check the harness connector as well as the sensor. As an example I've come across connecters where the lock tabs were broken causing intermittent opens. Look at the whole picture.
